Esther's faith

 Read Esther 4.

Context: The Jews are being persecuted by Haman the Agagite. Mordecai refused to bow down to Haman, angering him. Haman seeks to destroy the Jews and sneakily uses the king to do so; making a decree to wipe out the Jews.

Summary: Mordecai mourns the actions of Haman and the king's decree to destroy the Jews. Esther finds out about the decree and Mordecai asks that she go to the king even though that might mean her death. Esther's response is to have them pray and fast before she goes.

Passage that stood out to me: "and if I perish, I perish."

Esther's absolute trust in God is shown in these verses. Her response to the upsetting situation is first to pray and fast. She trusts that God will take care of her no matter what. She isn't afraid to die for God's people. We live such peaceful lives in comparison and most of us probably can't even comprehend the persecution that went on or the power the kings had. How do we respond to the persecution of Christians today? Do we bring these things before God in prayer? Do we openly mourn the death of Christians as Mordecai did? Do we trust God through the hard times? Do we even see the persecution of Christians that subtly happens in our own society or the outright murder of Christians in other countries? It's easy to trust God when things are good in our own little circles but we need to trust God and go to Him in prayer for all things. We need to open our eyes to the things Satan does against Christians. Satan seeks to destroy God's people by any means possible.  We can't turn a blind eye or expect others to do the hard things. We need to see it, pray about it and let God lead us to do His Will.
