Titus 3 Self-condemned Part 40

Titus 3:11

“For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them.”

Today’s text is quite simple. Paul has been making the point that the gospel is transformative. One who has been born again in Christ will live differently than the unrepentant sinner. 1 John 2:4-6 says, “Whoever says, ‘I know Him,’ but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys His word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in Him. Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did.” People who have turned away from the gospel truth will be obvious because they won’t be living as Jesus did. Their actions will reveal what is in their heart, thereby condemning them. We are all sinners, condemned by our sins, but one who lives for Christ will strive to do what is right and, by the Holy Spirit, will live to do the good works God has set forth for them to do. No, Christians are not perfect, but it should be obvious by the way they live that they are children of God. A living faith must, and will, change the way you live. So live as one who has been born again!

1. What can we learn about dealing with the unrepentant sinner from 1 Corinthians 5:9-13?

2. What can we learn about being born again from John 3:1-21?

3. When we are born again, we are transformed. What can we learn about this from Romans 6:11-14?

4. What causes someone to be self-condemned? How can you identify this person?

Gracious God and heavenly Father, I come before You in humble gratitude for all the wonderful gifts You have given me, and for making me Your child. Help me to live as one who has been born again, not for selfish reasons but for Your glory and honor. Guide me and work Your Spirit in me that I may not turn away from the truth. Help me to live in true fellowship with all Your children and turn away those who are unrepentant and do not live as You desire. Forgive me when and where I fall short and, by Your Spirit, make me walk as one transformed by Your word. Amen.
