When our bodies fail us

Right now you’re struggling, but I see you. More importantly, God sees you. Turn to the Bible

        “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”
Psalm 34:8

When your body has taken so much of your freedom, and you feel like you’ve lost another one, it’s easy to feel sad and disappointed. Maybe today just sucks, but you will be ok when you find your refuge in Him, in His Word.

        “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26

You feel like your body has betrayed you, let you down. But remember, God is good, and His plan for us is good. Right now, it may be hard to feel that, to hear the words that should bring comfort. Read them once, and then again, and again until His Words echo in your mind.

        “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Pray to the Father who loves you, "Lord, I'm trying to trust You, but I don't understand. Please give me the wisdom to understand and the strength to believe.” Remind yourself to

        “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Sometimes our own bodies feel like the enemy. Pray once more;

        "Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of Your wings! Selah" Psalm 61:1-4

When your body or mind is failing you, remember God’s grace. Remember His promises:

        “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

You may not feel like boasting in your weakness right now, and that’s ok. But don’t let yourself slip into a loop of sadness, disappointment, or depression. Turn to our refuge, our strength, the One who gives us grace upon grace, and breathe. Rest in the peace that only God can give you.

        "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." John 14:27

When I find myself struggling, I know the best place to turn to is my Creator, my Father, my Savior, my Comfort, my "refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1).

I get it. It's easier said than done, but it's worth so much more than you could imagine. If you do nothing else today, let it be this: seek Him.
